Octane Finance-backed Harry King Stars At Donington Park

Octane Finance-backed racer Harry King maintained his bid for a second Porsche Carrera Cup GB title with a third win of the season at Donington Park.

Harry, the current Porsche GB Junior driver and defending champion, had taken a second victory of 2021 in the previous meeting at Silverstone and went into the penultimate weekend of the year with his focus firmly on the top step of the podium.

Ahead of the weekend, Harry was the quickest man on track in pre-event testing as he topped the times in both sessions at the wheel of his Team Parker Racing-run car - making him the driver to beat going into qualifying.

Despite the best efforts of his rivals, Harry was in imperious form as he rocketed to pole position in fine style, ending up almost two-tenths of a second clear of anyone else.

If that performance was impressive, it was just a taster for the opening race of the weekend as Harry dominated from start-to-finish, leading every lap and posting the fastest lap as he secured an impressive third victory of the year.

With the reverse grid draw putting Harry fifth on the grid for race two, he quickly got into a position to fight for the podium places before contact at the final chicane saw him forced off across the grass.

Recovering his composure having dropped back to fifth spot, Harry worked his way back up to fourth and was closing on the train of cars ahead when the race drew to a close.

With two races left to run at Brands Hatch later this month, Harry is one of four drivers still in contention to win the 2021 title.

"It's been a positive weekend and we have been able to show fantastic pace throughout," he said. "Coming here, I was determined to challenge for victories and we laid down a marker in practice on Thursday by going quickest.

"The car felt fantastic and we were able to build on our testing performance in qualifying to grab pole, which meant we were in exactly the right place for race one. That couldn't have gone any better, and leading from start to finish and setting fastest lap ticked every box.

"The reverse grid is always going to be tricky when the front of the field is as strong as it is this season, and without the contact mid-race, I think we could have at least brought home another podium finish.

"However, we go to Brands Hatch as one of the title contenders, and I'll be looking to end the year on a high."
