Octane Finance-backed racer Harry King secured a brace of top six finishes as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB headed for Oulton Park for the third round of the 2021 season.

The current Porsche GB Junior driver - and defending series champion - was looking to challenge for his first victory of the season at the Cheshire circuit and was the man to beat in Friday testing as he put his Team Parker Racing-run car on the top of the timesheets.

A combination of mixed weather conditions and a small issue with the car left Harry in sixth place on the grid for the opening race, but he was quickly in the fight for the podium places when the lights went out and race one got underway.

Harry would fight hard to get ahead of team-mate Kiern Jewiss and took the flag in fourth place on the road, although a time penalty for Dan Cammish for being out of position at the start meant he was classified in third place.

There would be a double whammy post-race however, with Cammish reinstated into his finishing position after his penalty was overturned, and Harry put back two places by officials for a clash with Jewiss as the pair diced for position.

Left to start race two from sixth on the grid, Harry managed to avoid the out-of-control car of Lorcan Hanafin on the opening lap to run in fifth after an early safety car period, and found himself running behind Will Martin and Cammish on track.

Having sized up a potential move to get ahead of Cammish into fourth, Harry took his chance in impressive fashion on lap eleven when Cammish tried to make a move on Martin at the Island hairpin, with Harry diving up the inside of the pair and the three cars briefly running three-wide on the exit of the corner.

Although unable to make that move stick, Harry nipped ahead of Cammish as the trio headed through Knickerbrook and drew alongside Martin going up Clay Hill only to be forced onto the grass, resulting in him being forced to back out of the move and slot back into fourth spot.

That was where he would remain to the finish as he picked up solid points to add to his tally ahead of the trip to Knockhill in Scotland for the next round.

"We were in a good position after practice on Friday, but unfortunately there was a small issue with the car in qualifying that left me on the back foot going into the races," he said. "Oulton Park is a very difficult circuit on which to overtake so I was pleased to come through to third in the opening race, but a few judicial decisions went against us and undid the hard work I'd put in.

"Heading into race two, I wanted to keep my nose clean and try and get as far forwards as I could. I had a really good, clean battle with Dan for fourth place and he put up a good fight before I managed to get ahead, but the move that Will then pulled to defend third was a bit harsh as he forced me onto the grass at one of the fastest parts of the circuit.

"I had to back out of it to avoid an accident, which is a frustrating as we could have picked up a podium with the pace that was in the car.

"Fourth is still good points on the board but I want to be back on the top step of the podium and will be pushing hard at Knockhill in a few weeks to get that first win of the year on the board."
